LIFE+ DIGITALIFE intends to improve indoor air quality. The project built an industrial-scale pilot plant in Italy, and used digital printing technology to halve the amount of photocatalysts (such as titanium dioxide) needed for coating in manufacturing ceramic tiles. The production process almost eliminates all waste, while the new tiles can break down nitrous oxides and formaldehyde and are resistant to bacteria.
