U-MOB LIFE fought against traffic congestion in cities by promoting behavioural changes and sustainable mobility among university students. The project fostered a European network of more than eighty universities in 11 countries to share best practices. Some universities encouraged public transport use by providing a free annual pass to all students. Others supported local authorities in developing cycling paths and bike- sharing, setting up facilities including a bike repair shop inside the campus staffed by volunteers. U-MOB LIFE also created a network of sustainable mobility managers to develop awareness campaigns and engage local communities.
