Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is the fastest-growing waste stream in the EU, containing hazardous materials that pose environmental and health risks if not properly managed. In Slovenia, preparation for reuse remains extremely low due to limited awareness, weak incentives, and insufficient infrastructure.
The LIFE Turn to e-circular project promoted a transition from the linear “buy-use-dispose” model to a circular economy, by engaging stakeholders, raising awareness, and creating supportive infrastructure. As a result, 247 tonnes of electronic and electrical equipment were kept in use, avoiding an estimated 1 835 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent emissions, and consumer habits shifted toward repair and reuse.
The project also shaped policy, strengthened local communities, and provided a replicable model for sustainable electronic waste management across Europe.
