LIFE CLIMATE SMART CHEFS

Empowering chefs for a climate-smart, sustainable and heathy food system in the EU

Current food systems place heavy pressure on the environment, driving greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity loss, soil degradation, and water depletion. Despite growing awareness, everyday food choices continue to contribute significantly to climate change.

To address this challenge, the LIFE CLIMATE SMART CHEFS project promoted behavioural change within the food sector by training professionals, developing digital tools for climate-smart menus, and raising awareness about sustainable diets.

By empowering chefs as sustainability ambassadors and reaching more than 500 000 people, the project contributed to shape healthier, low-carbon food systems and supported the EU’s transition toward a zero-emission economy by 2050.
