LIFE Plants for Plants developed new plant-based bio-stimulants for conventional agriculture. Working across six European countries – the Netherlands, Poland, Croatia, Italy, France and the UK – the team produced three new bio-stimulants at a pilot scale and tested them on various crops in different climatic conditions. The new organic products led to water savings of about thirty per cent in irrigated crops and reduced fungicide and phosphorous use by up to a third. The team worked to change farmers’ attitudes towards plant-based bio-stimulants to make their crops more resilient to climate change and disease.
