Many people in Europe don’t know what the Natura 2000 network is or why it matters, making it harder to build support for nature protection. Without public awareness, conservation efforts can struggle to gain momentum.
To change this, strong communication is key to connecting people with biodiversity and encouraging involvement.
The LIFE Living Natura 2000 project in Germany stepped up with a powerful campaign. Using social media, events, outreach tools, and even celebrity support, it reached over 25 million people. The project boosted awareness, inspired action, and created a model for how to promote Natura 2000 and conservation across Europe.
